 #AdoptionSchoolsTrain’s Journey’s End is in sight in RBWM.

As regular readers will know my Local Authority (Windsor and Maidenhead) has introduced comprehensive support at school for adopted children and their parents. This has been done by offering the care provided by the Virtual School to all adopted children in the Borough. Parents have help with school selection, children get Personal Education Plans and schools get advice on Pupil Premium spending and training for all staff.

The new support commenced this academic year and has been welcomed by both new adopters and those with children already at schools where their needs might not have been understood. Schools have also welcomed the additional knowledge and skills they now will have to help raise the achievements of some of their pupils who have been struggling.

As well as Children in Care and Adopted Children, the Virtual School will also offer help to children…
