Random wonderings about Chicken Pox

Published July 28, 2013 by thefamilyof5

My lovely friends daughter has chicken pox  and is feeling rather poorly 😦 it reminded me of when I had it as a teenager.

But then I wondered, have my girls ever had chicken pox? Or any other illness for that matter. The very poor and limited medical records that we have for middle girl and baby girl don’t mention anything In fact they don’t mention much at all aside from vaccinations, and we have no records at all for big girl, so I wonder, have they had chicken pox? Tonsilitis? Scarlet fever? Foot and mouth? whooping cough? Or any other common childhood illness?!

Your guess is as good as mine!

Mini Me’s!

I love cleaning, I find it therapeutic. In fact the state of my house is usually a good representation of the state of my head. The more stressed out I get, the more grime that builds up and then when it all gets too much I go on a mad cleaning frenzy, I’ve even been known to hoover at 2am! (pre kids obviously).

Seems I’m not the only one in our house that likes cleaning. I went in to the playroom earlier to find what I initially thought was chaos, but upon closer inspection I saw wet wipes, and tidying and organising!

I have 3 mini me’s!

Bless you Mummy

Published July 25, 2013 by thefamilyof5

I sneezed today and there was no chorus of ‘bless you mummy’.
It was lovely.
No I haven’t gone insane.

The girls had an awful day yesterday, spiteful, rude, cheeky, willful, abnoxious the works.
They all had an amazing nights sleep last night. So yesterday was clearly due to tiredness.

Today they were so busy playing they didn’t notice me sneezing, 4 times!!! They’re relaxed enough today to just play. I’m looking forward to a day of not being under the watchful eye of 3 hypervigilant girls that notice, comment on and react to my every move and sound.

All because no one cared that I sneezed!

Random wonderings about illness.

I often randomly wonder things, I usually save these breif ‘moments’ for my facebook status, but, well, I guess i’ve shared so much with you guys over the years that it’s only fair that I share my random wonderings  too. So, tonight I’m sharing my first random wondering moment, I expect there will be many more of these breif ‘moments’ or shall we say ‘glimpses’ of the inside of my head.

I’m wondering tonight if I’m blessed to have really healthy kids, or if my kids are still hiding their ‘needs’  from us, is this just another ‘symptom’ of their compliance. In 3 years we’ve had nothing more than a few snotty noses and the odd cough. Are they really just THAT healthy?!

Anyway, i’ll leave you with that random thought from my brain, until the next time!

Schools Out for the Summer………

Published July 20, 2013 by thefamilyof5

We booked the last week of school off as holiday like always. The final week of school is just too much for the girls, too  unstructured and too much change for them to be able to cope with. So we’ve been on school holidays for just over a week now, and doesn’t it show.

Even though we’ve been making the most of Daddy being off work and have  crammed in lots of activities, and even though we’ve had the heat wave to contend with and to try and sleep through, I’m pleased to say that the  bickering has pretty much stopped, middle girl hasn’t been refusing to sleep for hours on end every night,  even baby girls need for control has eased, she’s even eaten vegetables without fuss!!  All is calm in  the Family of 5 household.

During our first year as a family I remember commenting about how much easier things were in the holidays, but then things started to change and the girls behaviour in the school holidays was not so easy, in fact I stopped looking forward to them and instead began bracing myself for them.

So I’m really happy as you can imagine, about the calm that has descended upon us, and I can’t help but wonder if the news of a new school for September has also helped things too.image
