Sleep Therapy – The End

Published May 20, 2013 by thefamilyof5

Today I met for the 6th time with the therapist from the organisation that have been helping myself and big girl with her sleep troubles.

At our last session she gave big girl some relaxation tips, the result were instant and incredible, but the novelty wore off quite quickly and she soon returned to her poor sleep pattern.

So today, armed with big girls sleep diary’s for the last 3 weeks I looked forward to some getting new advice on what we could try next.

No, it seems that they’re out of idea’s and I’ve had my full quota of 6 sessions.

So big girl just has to try harder it seems, great!

  • Hey,

I know my tips you probably have already tried but you never know..
I have trouble sleeping on & off, a few things I tried were:

    1) Make the bed nice fresh cotton sheets..& prepare PJs etc.
    2) Run a nice warm/hot bath and relax for a while in there
    3) Either try reading a book or do a bit of writing like in a journal or something

Then see how it goes. I find that having a nice bath & getting into a fresh bed makes me want to sleep cause it’s so comfy & feels nice.

Meditation & yoga are quite effective too!

Sorry if these don’t help 😦 Willing to talk some more if you want 🙂

    • Ah thank you for sharing those tips. We do those, well the 8yr old version of them. We start ‘quiet time’ an hour before bed, so pj’s on, teeth brushed, tv off and some relaxing reading or puzzles. She just can’t switch her brain off bless her, lies awake for hours and wakes constantly throughout the night :/

      • Ahh she’s 8, I didn’t know that sorry. I just found your post on the aspie tag *covers face*
I can’t really remember much from my childhood if I’m honest I know what you mean though about switching the brain off! I’ve only just about mastered it & it still keeps me up til early hours of morning *yawns* 😦
Have you tried any Autism sites? Health sites that deal with autism too? They may have some tips.

      • 🙂 other than the (ASD specialist) organisation that gave up on us today I’ve not tried anywhere else. I have just made some contact with other ASD specialists and have put my name down for some of their training groups/sessions so im hoping i’ll be able to get some additional tips at those, hopefully 🙂

      • Ahh they are hopeless!! I have no faith in people anymore! Especially when you need the help!
Ahh good luck! I hope she gets her sleep bless her! Let me know how you get on 🙂
